I was planning on doing a video today until I saw this story on my Facebook newsfeed. You might have seen it making the rounds too.
I am so unbelievably bothered by this.
Picture your young son or daughter who might be overweight getting one of these while the rest of the kids that go up to this woman's door gets candy.
My heart would break.
I'd also probably snatch this woman's hair out of her head and knock her teeth out.
When has it become acceptable to purposely single a child out and tell them the reason they aren't getting candy is because someone thinks they are fat? Why not just hand out pencils, little toys like spider rings, a healthy snack or not participate at all in Halloween? Wow.
I don't know about y'all but when I was a kid I heard enough people, including my family, tell me that I was fat. I certainly didn't need even more people tell me. No child needs to be talked to this way. At. All.
Instead of something like this if this is something she is passionate about, the letter writer could be doing positive things to help.....why not try to start a grassroots movement? Offer free healthy eating classes for families, show them how to shop to get the best healthy deals or just lead by example.
She's right, it does take a village but it needs to be done in a respectful and caring way....doing a letter like this just makes her an asshat.
What are your thoughts?
