Meet Tanee

Hi Everyone! 

My name is Tanee.
(Don't worry, you will not be the only one that doesn't know how to pronounce my name lol)



I'm a work-at-home mom of 3 children (who I refer to as my minions) 
and married to a globetrotting husband. I am from New Orleans :)

My journey began in May 2008 after a lot of soul searching. I have been morbidly obese almost my entire teen age/adult life but after I had my 3rd child I was diagnosed with severe depression. I felt like I didn’t know who I was anymore. It got so bad that I almost ran my SUV into a tree and the only thing that stopped me was my children.

What else was going on? I took my children to Wal-mart. As we were leaving, my oldest son who has Asperger’s darted out into the parking lot. I couldn’t catch him but luckily an older gentleman grabbed him for me. Later on I beat myself up about it, not being able to save your own child is terrifying. I couldn’t walk the entire the store, much less run after a 6 year old.

I didn’t start right after that though. It was after I went to a convention with the company I used to work with that I decided that I was worth it. Luckily they had some amazing motivational speakers within the company. Self-improvement classes were all that I took that year. I wanted to change. I just didn’t think I could.

I came home right after that full of determination. I deserved to have what I wanted! I still had no idea how to start but I knew WHY I wanted to do it! (Which if you are wondering, my WHY is myself. I wanted this for ME. Taking care of myself is a win-win for everyone in my life.)

So I researched. Weight loss surgery? Tempting but the lack of money and phobia of needles nixed that idea. Well, what about Weight Watchers? I did Weight Watchers several times with awesome results until I stopped. I didn’t want to count points though. It felt so overwhelming and I admitted I had no idea what eating healthy really was. I saw the Core Plan they offered and it was perfect. A food list on what I could/couldn’t have and it really focused on you paying attention to your body for hunger cues.  It helped me learn alot about my body.

I did that for the majority of my weight loss (99.9% of it) and when I felt restless I would switch to counting calories.  I now practice basically the Core Plan but I do not do any fat free foods.....so basically eating clean and listening to my body :)

I didn’t start exercising right away. When I thought it was something I needed to do, I bought a cheap piece of equipment. It totally kicked my butt after 5 minutes. I liked it though. So I tried different things like pool exercises, Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds DVDs and walking outside.  I built it up as time went on and now I teach fitness classes like Zumba and I am a personal trainer.  I love being active!

In total, I’ve lost 200 pounds. I have done it without any surgery, magic pills, shakes or Voodoo and that makes it that much sweeter to me!
